Modern web browsers include new security and compatibility features that, in some cases, may prevent the proper operation of the configuration interface for older devices such as the Kronos series.
Microsoft Edge includes an Internet Explorer Mode (IE Mode), which allows opening legacy web pages using the Internet Explorer engine, facilitating access to the configuration interface of these devices.
This article explains how to enable Internet Explorer Mode in Microsoft Edge to configure a Kronos device.
Requirements
- Computer with Microsoft Edge installed.
- Kronos device connected and ready to configure.
- Access to the device's configuration address (usually http://192.168.0.1).
Important Information
Important: Devices in the Kronos series are discontinued products and use legacy web technologies. Because of this, current browsers may block access to their configuration interface due to incompatibilities with security certificates or protocols used by the device.
Using Internet Explorer Mode may allow access to the configuration interface in cases where the site does not open correctly in the standard Microsoft Edge mode.
Step 1. Open Microsoft Edge
Launch Microsoft Edge.
Step 2. Access the Browser Settings
In the address bar, type:
edge://settings/defaultbrowser
Then press Enter.
The Default Browser section will open automatically.
Step 3. Enable Internet Explorer Mode
Look for the option:
Allow sites to be reloaded in Internet Explorer mode (IE mode)
Change its value to:
Allow
Step 4. Restart Microsoft Edge
After enabling the option, press the Restart button to apply the changes.
Wait for Microsoft Edge to reopen.
Step 5. Add the Kronos Page
Once the browser has restarted:
- Go back to:
edge://settings/defaultbrowser
- In the Internet Explorer mode pages section, click Add.
- Enter the following address:
- Press Add to save the setting.
The page will be registered to open automatically using Internet Explorer mode.
Step 6. Access Kronos Configuration
Open a new tab in Microsoft Edge.
In the address bar, type:
If the configuration was done correctly, the Kronos page will open using Internet Explorer Mode.
Step 7. Log In
When the login screen appears, enter the default credentials:

Press Login to enter the device configuration.
Troubleshooting
If the page still does not open:
- Verify that the computer is connected to the Kronos Wi-Fi network.
- Confirm that the IP address used is http://192.168.0.1.
- Completely close Microsoft Edge and reopen it.
- Check that the site was added correctly to the Internet Explorer Mode pages list.
- Restart the Kronos device and try again.
Additional Information
Note: Although Internet Explorer Mode improves compatibility with legacy devices, it does not guarantee functionality in all cases, as some recent versions of Windows and Microsoft Edge may still have limitations with devices that use outdated web technologies.
